Salt Lake City and County will sponsor the sixth annual Paper Airplane Contest Friday, Nov. 23, at noon at the City-County Building, 451 S. State.

This year's contest promotes drug prevention and education among the valley's high schools. Sponsors include Mayor Palmer DePaulis, 3rd District Judge Scott Daniels, County Commissioner Mike Stewart and the State Office of Education.The theme of this year's contest is "Fly High Without Drugs," and is designed to promote efforts of the Peer Leadership Team programs in area high schools.

The paper airplane competitions are divided into three categories: ages 12 and under, an open division and Peer Leadership Team entrants. Participants in the latter category will compete for $400 to underwrite drug-prevention programs at their high school.
