The Russians are coming.
And so are the Polish, Chinese, French, Italians, Indians and Germans, to name a few. This week and next, Springville and Salt Lake City will be invaded by about 500 dancers from 16 countries. The third annual Springville World Folkfest will begin in Salt Lake City on Friday and will move to Springville for the final six days. Troupes of dancers in native costumes will dance to live music from their home countries. Organizers estimate approximately 30,000 people will attend the Utah County portion of the festival.
New this year will be food and craft booths, open for an hour before each Springville performance. Bands from different lands will serenade diners before the evening's dancing begins.
Tickets for events held at Symphony Hall will be sold in Salt Lake City at the symphony box office. Seats will go for $7 or $9.
Tickets for performances held in Springville will cost $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $3 for children younger than 12, and $20 per family (families must have six or fewer members, and all must live in the same house).
