Utah businesses are invited to participate in a series of matchmaker trade missions in Europe, Canada and Asia sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Small Business Administration over the next few months.

During the trade missions, DOC and SBA personnel escort U.S. businesspeople overseas to meet with potential foreign buyers, agents, distributors and joint venture partners.Susan Engeleiter, SBA administrator, said the trade missions are an excellent opportunity for the novice exporter who wants to learn to do business in a foreign country.

Participants must be new to exporting or marketing in the countries being visited, must send a decision-maker with the delegation; sell products which are at least 51 percent U.S.-made; and pay a participation fee of between $1,200 and $1,600 plus travel expenses.

Scheduled trade missions are March 11-28, Barcelona and Madrid; March 18-22, Seoul and Taipai; April 15-19, Hong Kong and Singapore; April 15-20, Tokyo; May 20-24, Paris and Milan; June 10-14, Amsterdam and Brussels; June 17-21, Toronto and Montreal; June 20-25, Zurich and Vienna; Sept. 23-27, Stockholm and Hamburg; and Sept. 30-Oct. 4, Rome and Athens.
