Jay Goodman and Kendall Youngblood scored 18 points each to lead Utah State to a 96-85 exhibition victory over Ghent of Belgium Monday night.
Randy Funk added 16 points for the USU Aggies (2-0 in exhibition play).Carl Henry scored 20 points to lead the Ghent Bobcats, who wound up their Utah tour 1-5. Marc Wade added 19 points and pulled down 17 rebounds.
Ghent took its largest lead of the game, 22-18, at 13:18 when Wade scored on a layup and a free throw.
Funk started a 6-point USU run with two free throws with 9:07 left in the first half. Funk followed with a reverse layup on a pass from Allen Gordon, who stole the ball. That gave USU its first lead of the night, 31-30.
Goodman hit a 3-pointer to start a 16-4 run that put the Aggies ahead 53-41 at the half. Goodman contributed 8 of the 16 points in the USU run.
USU scored the first 6 points of the second half to take a 59-41 lead.
