The western valleys and northern mountains will receive the main thrust of a storm that moved into the state Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Total snowfall accumulations in the mountains are expected to be more than 2 feet by Wednesday afternoon. Some locations in the Wasatch Mountains should receive even more.Snowfall in western Utah valley locations will be about 1 to 3 inches with higher amounts along the benches, according to Ken Labas and William J. Alder of the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service.
Roadways in areas about 5,000 feet elevation will be snowpacked and slick, with slushy conditions below 5,000 feet. Travelers are urged to allow plenty of time to reach their destination. They are urged to use great caution in driving, the meteorologists said.
