Juab County needs to devise a plan for dealing with solid waste in the county, county commissioners were told.

County Attorney Don Eyre Jr. said the plan must address several issues. The state Legislature is giving counties until July 1993 to form the plan. The county solid waste management plan must determine how much solid waste there will be in 20 years and where the waste can be put.

In some places, said Eyre, the county assumes responsibility for collection. Dumpsters are placed in the cities and then the refuse is hauled to the county landfill.

Meetings will be held to explain the issue, said Eyre.

Several small counties might work together and hire a professional to work for the group, he said.

The state has not set up a timetable yet, said Eyre.
