A Murray High School teacher was charged Monday with counts of sexual abuse, lewdness, fornication and sodomy.
According to documents filed in 3rd Circuit Court, Matthew (Matt) Faerber, 28, Murray High School's choir director, is accused in incidents involving one high school student and three private piano students, some as young as 13.Faerber was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony, in connection with incidents involving a 13-year-old girl, who contends the defendant fondled her both over and under her clothing while receiving music lessons.
Faerber is also charged with one count of sexual abuse and one count of lewdness with another 13-year-old, who said the defendant fondled her.
Both girls reported the incidents occurred in their homes while Faerber was teaching piano lessons, according to court records.
Faerber is also charged with two counts of gross lewdness, a Class A misdemeanor, involving a 14-year-old girl, who said the defendant touched and fondled her in his residence.
Faerber is also charged with one count of fornication and one count of sodomy, both Class B misdemeanors, in connection with incidents involving a 19-year-old student at the high school.
Faerber will be arraigned in circuit court Wednesday.
