A Delta man will spend the next 90 days in the diagnostic unit of the Utah State Prison before being sentenced in 4th District Court on attempted sexual abuse of a child, a third-degree felony.

Defense attorney John Mussleman requested that Van Webb Taylor, 68, undergo an evaluation at the Intermountain Sexual Abuse and Treatment Center rather than be placed in prison. But because Taylor was earlier allowed to participate in a program at ISAT and failed to complete treatment, 4th District Judge Ray M. Harding said he should be treated at the prison. Taylor will return to court Feb. 15 for sentencing.
