BYU quarterback Ty Detmer's shoulder injury isn't expected to keep him from practicing or playing this week, according to BYU trainer George Curtis.

Detmer hurt the shoulder during last Saturday's victory over Utah, and Curtis expressed concern Sunday that it might be a separation. On Monday, after Detmer had his shoulder re-examined by a member of the Cougars' training staff, Curtis said the possibility of a low-grade separation still existed but doubted that it would slow Detmer down."It's pretty swollen, but we'll give it the usual kinds of treatment and he should be ready to go Saturday," Curtis said.
