Though our beloved Mary Lou has gone before us, she leaves a beautiful piece of herself with everyone she knew. And we are all the better for it.
Mary Louise Schumaker Motta was born July 10, 1929 in Elkhart, Indiana to Clara and Ken Schumaker. She lived in Beloit, Wisconsin and California, before settling in Utah. She married Dominick Motta, June 19, 1954.She is survived by her husband, Dominick, Layton; mother, Clara Schumaker, Kaysville; daughters, Julie Motta Knighton, Clearfield; Laurie Motta Eccleston and Amy Motta, both Layton; brother, John Schumaker, Wichita, Kansas; there are two grandsons, Eric and Alex Knighton, who were lucky to know their Grandma Lou.
She was a volunteer at Holy Cross Hospital and member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Clearfield.
She has chosen to benefit others through education by giving herself to the University of Utah Medical School.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, at Lindquiest's Layton Mortuary, 1074 North Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Utah Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.
