Emily Vaughn Rees Jones, age 85, passed away on November 18,1990 of natural causes.

Born March 7, 1905 in Oneida County, Cherry Creek, Malad Route Idaho, to Moroni Vaughn and Mary Ann Chivers Rees. She married Louis Mitchell Jones on August 22, 1923, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She attended schools in Malad, Idaho and graduated from Malad High School in June 1923. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Utah in June 1949. Member of the Salt Lake Council of Women and the Utah Women Legislative Organization. President of the Salt Lake Dental Auxiliary, President of the Sugarhouse Lady Lions. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was a teacher in all auxiliaries, member of the Stake Sunday School Board, and fulfilled a two year mission with her husband in Hillside Stake. She was also State Historian of the Dental Auxiliary and Captain of Edgehill Camp of the Utah Daughters of Pioneers.She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Shirley) Thomas; daughter-in-law, Melanie Sturdevant. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Linda Thomas Christensen, Lynn Mitchell Thomas, John Rees Thomas, Sharon Jones Rogers, Suzette Jones Sessions, Norman Rees Jones, Nathan Smith Jones, Neal Mitchell Jones, Marianne Jones, Melanie Marie Jones. Five great-grandchildren: Michelle Emily Christensen, Adam Richard Christensen, Emily Jean Rogers, Jacqueline Joy Rogers, Harrison Jones Rogers. Preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Louis Mitchell Jones Jr. and Dr. Norman Ray Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, November 21, 1990 at Edgehill Ward, 1750 South 1500 East with viewing from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Viewing also Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So. Highland Drive. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
