Fritz Herrmann Dunz, age 85, died November 17, 1990 in a Sandy hospital after suffering a stroke and putting up a courageous fight.He was born on December 9, 1904 in Koenigsberg, East Prussia, Germany to Herrmann and Amalie Dunz. He attended schools in Germany and learned the trade of Schlosser and Schmied. He graduated from the Technische Schweiss-and Lehranstalt in Berlin. He started to work for the German railroad in 1933, eventually as master of apprentices. He served his country in WW II, as always quiet and with integrity, for which he earned the Iron Cross. He spent three years in a prisoner of war camp in Siberia.
In 1952, he married Herta Glockmann in Bad-Kreuznach, Germany. He retired in 1968 from long and dedicated service for the German railroad as Oberwerkmeister. He came to Salt Lake City with his wife in 1979 to live with his son, Joe Glockmann. In his better days, he enjoyed fishing and his pet dogs, Rex and Jimmy, whom he loved dearly. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Souter and nurse Marilyn at the E.R. and to Dr. Rodier and the nurses of station 2186 at Alta View Hospital for their love and care.
He is survived by his wife, Herta; son, Joe; his relatives in Germany; and many friends in Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 1990, 11 a.m., at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 31115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.), where friends may call 1/2 hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain. View Memorial Estates.
