Garret Gabriel passed for three touchdowns as Hawaii defeated Wyoming 38-17 in a Western Athletic Conference game Saturday night.

The Rainbows improved to 6-4 overall and 3-3 in the WAC. Wyoming, which has accepted a bid to the Copper Bowl, fell to 9-3 and 5-3.Jeff Sydner caught two touchdown passes from Gabriel as Hawaii took a 21-3 halftime lead.

The Rainbows scored the first three times they had the ball, twice after Cowboy turnovers.

Three plays after the opening kickoff, Gabriel kept for a 25-yard run to the Cowboy 43. On the next down, Gabriel hit Sydner across the middle. Sydner cut the sideline and raced to a 43-yard touchdown at 13:53.

After Wyoming failed to get a first down, punter Sean Fleming mishandled a snap at the Cowboy 41, turning the ball over to Hawaii at the Cowboy 23.
