Funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Ogden for Orson Whitney Young, 86, former Weber State College professor, who died Nov. 16, 1990, in a Lanham, Md., hospital of pneumonia.
The services for Young, who lived in Ogden and had been visiting a daughter in Maryland, will be in the Mount Ogden Ward chapel, 1314 17th St., where friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.Mr. Young was born in Raymond, Alberta, Canada, and was reared and educated in Salt Lake City. He taught zoology from 1933 to 1973 at WSC, where he was also chairman of of the life sciences department.
He helped organize and was a part-time director and had been a member of the board of the Weber County Mosquito Abatement District, was president of the Utah Mosquito Abatement Association and chairman of the Junior Academy of Sciences, Utah Academy of Sciences Arts and Letters. He initiated the visiting scientist and science fair programs for the state of Utah.
Mr. Young received the Henry Aldous Dixon Award for service to WSC and the community. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served 18 years as an East Ogden Stake high councilor.
