Christmas -- traditionally a time to be with family and loved ones - is often the loneliest time of the year for patients at the Utah State Hospital, notes hospital public relations director Janina Chilton.

The hospital's Forgotten Patient Christmas Program is looking for community volunteers to provide Christmas to its 260 patients, ranging in age from 6 to 90.Community volunteers are either provided information about an individual patient, along with gift suggestions, or may donate money so that hospital volunteers can do the shopping.

"The Forgotten Patient Program is quite often the only touch of the holiday spirit these patients experience," says Chilton. For more information, contact Chilton or Shawna Peterson at the Utah State Hospital in Provo, 373-4400.
