After expressing publicly his displeasure with Broncos coach Dan Reeves' offense, quarterback John Elway will now be included in developing Denver's game plan.
Elway, backup Gary Kubiak and practice-squad quarterback Pat Hegarty will start attending the Tuesday meetings when coaches map the team's strategy for the coming game.In his previous seven years with the team, Elway has taken Tuesdays off with the rest of the players.
"I want to be involved in putting the game together," Elway said Friday, the first time he talked to reporters after he announced in a newspaper article on Monday that his relationship with Reeves had deteriorated to an all-time low.
"We're going to be in those meetings. When they put the passing game in, we're going to be there and be able to put our two cents in and tell them what our feelings are and what we like."
Elway and the other quarterbacks also will attend meetings on Friday, after the week's full-scale practices have concluded.
"We're going to tell them, as far as in situations, what we like," he said. "That way, Dan has the best feeling he can have about what the quarterbacks like in certain situations. That's something he's never had. It's only going to help Dan in the play-calling because he'll know what we like in those situations."
