The premiere of the thriller sequel "Child's Play 2" scared up the biggest film audiences of the weekend as the holiday movie season got under way last week

A limited release of Kevin Costner's "Dances With Wolves" grossed $598,257 on 14 screens across the country - the highest-per-screen average of the year.The return of Chucky the killer doll in Universal's "Child's Play 2" grossed $10.7 million from nearly 2,000 screens in its first weekend of release.

"Jacob's Ladder," which made its debut the previous weekend in the No. 1 box office spot, brought in $5.08 million, according to figures released by Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc.

Here are the top movie ticket sales as tallied by Exhibitor Relations:

1. "CHILD'S PLAY 2," $10.7 million (first week).

2. "Jacob's Ladder," $5.08 million ($14.9 million, two weeks).

3. "Ghost," $4.3 million ($186 million, 18 weeks).

4. "Sibling Rivalry," $3.02 million ($12.4 million, three weeks).

5. "Reversal of Fortune," $2.5 million ($4.5 million, four weeks).

6. "White Palace," $2.2 million ($12.1 million, four weeks).

7. "Quigley Down Under," $2.1 million ($13.7 million, four weeks).

8. "Memphis Belle," $2.1 million ($21.9, five weeks).

9. "Marked for Death," $1.8 million ($40.2 million, six weeks).
