BYU's women's volleyball team clinched at least a tie for the Western Athletic Conference championship Friday night with a 18-16, 15-13, 15-11 sweep over San Diego State in the Smith Fieldhouse.

The Cougars faced New Mexico late Saturday night in an attempt to win the first ever WAC volleyball title outright.New Mexico came to Provo with a 7-2 WAC record, while BYU at 8-1 suffered its only loss in WAC play to the Lobos in Albuquerque, Oct. 18.
