An 11-year-old boy grabbed a kitchen knife and chased away a would-be burglar who had broken into his home, sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies arrested an 18-year-old Taylor man, who was released from the Weber County Jail on his own recognizance and was scheduled to be arraigned in 2nd Circuit Court on Thursday. The boy, who lives in the area of 2550 South in Taylor, told deputies he was home alone about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday when a man broke in.
Deputies said the boy went to the kitchen to get a knife while the burglar went in another direction.
When the boy came back up the hallway armed with a knife, the burglar left, reports said. There was another man outside the home at the time, the boy told deputies.
The boy then called his mother, who called police.
Two men matching descriptions given by the boy were questioned at a nearby dairy corral and one was arrested.
