Barbershop quartets, brass bands, wind ensembles, bell ringers, small vocal groups and other types of musicians are needed in the downtown Provo area to provide Christmas music.
This year's Christmas theme Provo is "A Homemade Christmas." To help make the shopping atmosphere bright and homey, the Christmas committee is asking for volunteers to spend an hour or two entertaining shoppers and guests in the downtown area. All interested musicians, including families, organized groups, students, church groups and others from throughout Utah Valley are invited to share their talents during the holidays.
Musical entertainment will be provided on Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Mondays from 5 to 8 p.m. Those interested in reserving a time should contact music chairwoman, Genelle Larsen at 374-1162 or after 6 p.m. at 225-6045.
"In addition to the Christmas parade on Nov. 23 at 4 p.m., Provo City will have a new Nativity scene at the Provo Tabernacle and lots of lights to serve as a perfect background for street musicians," Larsen said.
