Gov. Norm Bangerter has appointed 3rd District Judge Leonard H. Russon to the Utah Court of Appeals and Leslie A. Lewis, a partner in a Salt Lake law firm, to the 3rd District Court.
Russon, 57, has served as a judge for the 3rd District Court since May1984. Before that appointment, Russon spent 21 years as a trial lawyer before state and federal courts as well as administrative courts and commissions.
Russon replaces Judge Richard Davidson, who has resigned. Another appointment will have to be made soon in the 3rd District Court to fill the vacancy Russon leaves.
Lewis, 42, will be the only woman among the 14 judges in the 3rd Dis
trict Court. She was named to replace another judge who recently retired, Judge Raymond Uno.
Lewis is a partner with the law firm of Jones, Waldo, Holbrook & McDonough. Before joining the firm, she spent 10 years as a prosecutor in the justice division of the Salt Lake County at-torney's office.
Named Salt Lake County's Prosecutor of the Year in 1985, Lewis specializes in litigation, labor law and criminal law. She earned her law degree from the University of Utah in 1974.
