Parents in the area of East Sandy Elementary School have been warned of a caller who first asks for information about their children and then calls again to say he has the children and is going to do them harm.

No child is known to have been actually abducted or harmed, said Jordan School District Assistant Superintendent Thomas Owens. The district sent letters to every family in the school area to warn them of the calls.Owens said the person, suspected to be a man, began making calls Thursday, purporting to be calling for either the Jordan District or the Utah State Office of Education. He told parents he was conducting a survey.

"Some parents gave information, others were more careful," he said.

The unknown caller then placed second calls to the same parents threatening harm to the children. The caller said in some instances that he was holding the child and intended to harm him or her.
