A seminar for tax preparers and computer software companies interested in participating in the electronic federal tax filing program will be held Aug. 29 in the Red Lion Hotel by the Internal Revenue Service.
A basic course in electronic filing will be held at 10:30 a.m. and for those already familiar with the program a refresher course will be held at 2 p.m.In conjunction with the seminar, a vendor fair will be held during the day and feature exhibits from software companies and computer service bureaus.
IRS officials said the electronic filing program allows taxpayers to file returns through a computer via telephone without paper returns. This allows the advantage of a quicker and more accurate refund plus the acknowledgement that the return has been received by the IRS.
To file electronically, taxpayers must go to a tax preparer or a service bureau that has been accepted by the IRS.
