A dozen concerned Utahns have formed a group that will lobby for an immediate public congressional debate over whether the United States should start a war in the Persian Gulf.
"Our group has no name yet," said Dr. Louis Borgenicht, spokesman for the group and a local pediatrician. "We just feel something needs to be said and said now."Borgenicht belongs to Physicians for Social Responsibility and International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War, a group that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.
"War isn't a solution to the current Mideast crisis," Borgenicht said. "We immediately need a special session of Congress to debate fully and openly any possibility of going to war."
Those interested in joining Borgenicht's group may call him at his office, 531-8689.
