The first Christmas Lights Parade to be held in Richfield and a repeat of the Richfield Dollars program will highlight pre-Christmas activities in the city.

The Richfield Dollars program was launched Nov. 1. Shoppers receive discounts from merchants for doing their Christmas shopping in the city. The Christmas Lights Parade is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 8. Parade entry forms must be submitted by Wednesday, Nov. 21, according to Clark Knight, president of the sponsoring Richfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Carl Steck is chairman of the event.

Entry forms may be obtained and returned to Utah Power & Light Co. offices at 47 South Main or Carl's Jewelry at 24 North Main.

"The chamber is excited to see the enthusiasm with which this idea has been accepted by local merchants," Knight said. Merchants are decorating windows and exteriors of buildings with white Christmas lights this year.

Merchants are cooperating with Valley Central Bank in the Richfield Dollars program. The special dollars may be purchased at the bank at a 5 percent discount and will be honored at full value by more than 50 merchants who are cooperating in that program.
