Super typhoon Mike severely damaged Cebu city, the country's second most important commercial center, and a senator Thursday likened the damage to the blast of an atomic bomb.

The military office said 103 people were killed, 84 missing and presumed dead, and 107 injured when Mike slammed into the central Philippines Tuesday with peak winds of 150 mph.News reports put the death toll at more than 250 and included a report by radio station DYHP of 116 deaths in Cebu island. However, DYHP said only seven bodies had been recovered among the fatalities, mostly victims of landslides.
