Television and telephones will bring Utahns from all over the state together Nov. 20 for a discussion of the future.

The Legislature's Strategic Planning Committee will sponsor the event, which will focus on drafting a vision statement for the state. Participants will be asked to contribute their versions of the ideal future. The unprecedented statewide meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and continue through 10:30 p.m. Input will be incorporated into a third draft of the Utah Tomorrow statement. In January, the Legislature will consider formal adoption of the statement, culminating a two-year process that began when legislative committees formulated vision statements for their own areas of state government. Town meetings also were held during late 1989.

KUED-Channel 7 will provide its Ednet system to televise meetings in a variety of locations Nov. 20. The interactive system allows people at one site to interact with those at another. Participants at non-TV studio locations will be able to call the station and discuss the conclusions of their group on a special telephone line.

The substance of the statewide meeting also will be aired on KUED.
