Black powder muzzle-loading rifle enthusiasts will converge on Fort Buenaventura Saturday, Nov. 17, for the historic site's fourth annual turkey shoot.
Steve Fielding, superintendent of the state park, said he is keeping the type of targets secret until the day of the shoot, "to keep shooters guessing," he said. "It adds variety to the event and makes it more fun for those involved."Registration begins at 8 a.m. and competition starts at 10 a.m. The fort's shooting range will remain open after the competition so shooters can shoot for fun, Fielding said.
Fielding said prizes this year will be twenty 10-pound frozen turkeys.
