The Most Rev. William K. Weigand will celebrate his 10th anniversary Sunday, Nov. 18, as bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple.A reception honoring Bishop Weigand, who is the seventh bishop to lead the diocese, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Red Lion Hotel in Salt Lake City, where tributes will be given by community and religious leaders.
Speakers will include Gov. Norm Bangerter, Salt Lake Mayor Palmer DePaulis and President President Thomas S. Monson, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On behalf of Pope Paul II a letter will be read from the papal nuncio, Agustino Cacciavillan, representative of the pope in the United States.
