Educators from America's 23 largest school districts will meet in Salt Lake City Thursday through Saturday to discuss issues.

Jordan District will host the fall meeting of the National Federation of Urban-Suburban School Districts. Meetings will be in the Marriott Hotel for school board members, superintendents and others who are involved in the large school districts.Jordan Board Member Maurine Jensen and C. Devon Sanderson, Jordan executive assistant are co-chairpersons. Keynote speakers will be C. Daniel Litchford Jr., Weber State University, and Robert F. Bennett of the Franklin Institute.

Others will be James R. Moss, director of the Utah Partnership for Educational and Economic Development; Curtis Van Alfen, Brigham Young University; Raymond Whittenburg, Jordan superintendent; Alan M. Hofmeister, Utah State University; Douglas F. Anderson, Alta High principal; John Barainca, Brighton High teacher; and Renee Pay, Jordan Technical Center teacher.

Susan Chilton, Jordan program specialist, will coordinate a session on drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs. Other topics will include business/education partnerships, the use of technology in schools and space science. Innovative programs in Jordan District will be toured and several school music groups will perform.
