As part of Provo's annual Christmas Parade, which kicks off the Christmas season Friday, Nov. 23, the Deseret News Utah County Bureau is sponsoring a Snow Prince and Princess contest.

One boy and one girl between the ages of 6 and 11 will be crowned the Snow Prince and Princess for the Christmas season. Each will receive a $50 gift certificate and will ride in the parade. The annual parade will begin its trek down University Avenue at 4 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce and the Deseret News Utah County Bureau, this year's parade will offer more than 50 entries, including animals from Hogle Zoo, carriages, bands and the annual visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The theme for this year's parade and festivities is "Christmas at Home." Although the parade is held in downtown Provo, a special emphasis is being placed on making this a Utah County parade, with entries coming from all parts of the county and from Salt Lake City.

A new nativity will be on display at the tabernacle park beginning Nov. 23 and throughout the Christmas season.
