An Ogden man has been booked into the Weber County jail following a 15-mile high-speed chase through three Weber County cities.

Bill Norvon, 21, 2034 Buchanan St., was booked for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, felony evasion, auto theft and three counts of aggravated assault. The incident began about 4:05 a.m. Saturday when South Ogden officer Lyle Bayless was traveling north on Harrison Boulevard near 5600 South. An oncoming car swerved into the path of the police car forcing Bayless to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision. Bayless then began pursuing the car which turned east on to U.S. 89 towards the mouth of Weber Canyon.

Bayless attempted to make a traffic stop and the driver slowed. Before the cars stopped, however, the other car accelerated and turned onto I-84 heading west at more than 100 mph.

Two Riverdale City officers and a second South Ogden officer attempted to cut off the suspect vehicle at the intersection with Riverdale Road. The car swerved into the Riverdale officers forcing them to take evasive action. The car then proceeded north to the junction with I-15 and then to the 24th Street exit in Ogden where the car turned west on Pennsylvania Street.

Near 2500 South Pennsylvanian, the suspect swerved and struck the Riverdale vehicles and was forced to stop.

South Ogden Sgt. Larry Lucas said the chase lasted about 10 minutes. No injuries were reported.
