A sabbatical request by fusion researcher B. Stanley Pons was not reviewed by the University of Utah Institutional Council Tuesday.
Pons has requested a one-year sabbatical from the U. beginning Nov. 15 to donate full attention to his fusion research. He told state and U. officials last week he intends to pursue work in several labs with co-researcher Martin Fleischmann.Academic Vice President Jerilyn McIntyre said Pons' request is proceeding through normal university channels and will probably be presented to the council in December.
The council Tuesday did receive a report on the recent meetings of the state's Fusion/
Energy Advisory Council, which oversees expenditure of the state's $5 million fusion investment.
Neither Pons nor his North Carolina attorney were available for comment Tuesday morning.
