James Glendon Shepherd, 82, died November 8, 1990 in a Provo care center.

Born November 14, 1907 in Mapleton to James Adamson and Gertrude Fullmer Shepherd. Married Louisa Rowley May 4, 1937; later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple.Resident of Mapleton for 47 years. He attended school in Mammoth and attended Tintic High School in Eureka. Tended sheep with his dad in the Mammoth hills, later farmed in Delta and Southerland. He homesteaded with his mother in West Tintic and herded sheep. He also worked as a miner and later at the Ironton Steel Mill until closure when he worked for Geneva Steel, retiring at age 65. He was a mink and sheep rancher in Mapleton. High Priest in the LDS Church, worked in the Provo Temple for 12 years.

Survived by his wife, Mapleton; one daughter and two sons, Maria Shepherd Dickerson, Tooele; Jack David Shepherd, Robertsville, Missouri; Mitchell Lynn Shepherd, Pinole, Calif.; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Luella Perry, Josephine Jacobson, and Lavern Mecham, all Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew, Randall, and Elmer.

Funeral services Monday, November 12, 11 a.m., Mapleton 2nd Ward, 1215 North 1000 West. Friends may call Sunday evening at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, one hour prior at the church. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.
