An 11-mile natural-gas pipeline is ready to deliver gas to southeastern Idaho and extreme northern Utah residents, a company spokeswoman announced.
Gas will be delivered for the first time to new customers in Preston and Franklin, Idaho, and Cove in Utah's Cache County. The company's northernmost distribution point previously was Richmond in Cache County. The extension primarily follows U.S. 91 into Franklin County, Idaho.
In addition to the main line, most distribution mains and nearly 400 service lines have been installed, spokeswoman Susan Glasmann said Monday. Mountain Fuel is continuing construction of the distribution system in Preston.
Of 1,500 households and businesses in the new service area, 1,200 signed up for natural-gas service, Glasmann said.
