Layne O. `Hod' Hodson, age 71, died Friday, November 9, 1990 in St. Benedict's Hospital from a cerebral hemmorage.
He was born September 27, 1919 in Layton to William W. and Annie Cook Hodson. He married Ortel Jensen in Ogden May, 1940; she died July 5, 1961. He married Rae Wilson in Las Vegas, Nevada, January, 1966. He attended Davis County schools and was a life-long resident of Davis and Weber counties. Member of the LDS Church. Served in the U.S. Infantry during WW II. As a young man, he worked with his father and brothers in the dairy business in Layton. He worked as a salesman for Carnation Milk Company and sold real estate for the Suburban Real Estate Company.Most of all, Hod was a `Car Man.' He operated his own used car lots, as a partner with his brother in Hod & Jerry's, Car-A-Sell, and Hodson Auto. He sold cars for Hinkley Auto, Ogden Ford, and retired as used car manager for Merrill Bean Chevrolet in 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Ray; three daughters, one son, one stepson, two sisters, one brother, one sister-in-law, 15 grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; children and spouses, Joan and Garth Widdison, Hoopr; Winn Sheppard, Layton; Margaret and Calvin Bartholomew, Ogden; Scott and Stephanie Hodson, Riverdale; Kent Wilson, Park City; sisters and brothers are, Lois and Melvin Fullmer, Clearfield; Birdeen and Ray Thompson, Layton; Bill and Elynn Hodson, Ogden; and Norma Hodson, Ogden; grandchildren, Ann Marie, Teresa, Marni, Mechelle, David, Dax, Brady, Brett, Blake, Colby, Casey, Cari, Cortney, Porsche, Jaden, Stephanie Ann, Lacey, Chelcie, Jed, Scott, Cammie Layne, Tyson, and Drake. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Garold, and granddaughter, Calley Ryan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 1 p.m., at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Reverend Todd Hubbell officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Monday, from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. Interment, Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park.
