Blanche O. Nelson Mitchell Downs Griffith, died November 8, 1990, in Salt Lake City, after a courageous battle with a lingering illness.
Born January 6, 1919 in Arimo, Idaho to James Joseph and Helena Christensen Nelson. Married Melvin Mitchell; later divorced. Married Elmer Ned Downs February 9, 1945. He died September 26, 1972; sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in January 1988. Married Oscar C. Griffith September 4, 1975. He died April 8, 1982. Blanche was an active member of the Salt Lake LDS 21st Ward. Member Loyal Order of the Moose # 259 Women of the Moose.Survived by a sister, June Ostrander of Salt lake City; daughters, Mrs. Melva Dailey of Arvada, Colorado; Mrs. Helena Waters of Tooele; Mrs. Claudine Williams of North Logan; Mrs. Rita Goodfellow of Taylorsville; Mrs. Lorane Maxwell of West Valley; sons, Elmer Farrell Downs of West Jordan; Jerry Ned Downs of Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Mary Downs; daughter-in-law, Glenda Mitchell; 33 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sons William Mitchell and James Downs; grandchildren, Jeffery Downs and Michelle Williams.

Funeral service Tuesday, November 13th, 10 am at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, where friends may call Monday evening 6-8 pm and Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Interment at approximately 2 pm in the Arimo City Cemetery, Bannock County, Idaho.
