Willard Clark Benson, age 80, passed away November 7, 1990 at his home.
Born March 18, 1910 in St. George, Utah; a son of John Cattle and Elizabeth (Bessie) Macfarlane Benson. Married Fern Imley in Salt Lake City, June 11, 1937; she died September 9, 1939 during child birth leaving two small children. He married Relia Pearl Hafen, November 24, 1943; she died July 1981; both marriages were solemnized in the St. George Temple. Retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Co. where he was an installer and repairman. Member of the LDS Church. Organizer of Mt. Pleasant Riding Club. King Cowboy of Sanpete County in 1988. Active in local rodeo events, a champion calf roper. Resident of Sanpete County for 40 years.Survived by daughter and son-in-law Gary K. and Janet Hatfield, Salt Lake City; son and daughter-in-law W. Clark and Sandra Jo. Benson, Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Mrs. Russel J. (Tamara Jo) Rowley, Spokane, Washington; Michelle Benson, Salt Lake City; Ryan C. Benson and Nancy Ann Benson, both Provo; great-grandchildren, Mrs. Edward (Karen) Castilla, Kelley Hatfield, Gregory K. Hatfield and wife Susan, John Golden and wife Shelley Hatfield and N. Benson Hatfield, all of Salt Lake City; brother and sisters, Howard M. Benson, Scottsdale, Arizona; Mrs. Lloyd (LaBerta) Whitlock, Salt Lake City; Mrs. George C. (Helen) Toland, Bountiful.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, at 12 noon in the Ephriam LDS Stake Center; friends call at the Ursenbach Funeral Home, Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the stake center one hour prior to services. Interment, Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
