Two Utahns were killed in weekend auto accidents - a pedestrian struck on a sidewalk and a teenager killed when a truck careened off a guardrail into the car in which he was riding.

KILLED:Dale G. Rowley, 28, West Valley City.

Steven Ray, 16, Willard, Box Elder County.

Rowley was walking on a sidewalk along 41st South about 15th West Saturday at 9:20 p.m. when he was struck. The car that hit him then slammed into a camper and a boat, a West Valley police dispatcher said.

Officers originally investigated the incident only as a traffic accident, not knowing it involved a fatality until Rowley's body was found as they were leaving the scene, the dispatcher said.

Cameron B. Larsen, 19, 1420 Arapahoe Ave., was arrested after the accident and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of vehicle homicide.

Ray was killed Sunday evening in a collision on U.S. 89 at the Hot Springs overpass, near the Box Elder-Weber county line, a Box Elder County Sheriff's dispatcher said.

The accident occurred when a pickup truck careened off a guardrail and struck the passenger car in which Ray was riding.
