The Provo City Power Building will open a customer parking lot Tuesday with drive-through access for dropping off city utility bills.

The 15-space parking lot and drive-through is on the northeast side of the power building on 800 N. Freedom Blvd. (200 West). Management analyst Scott Lynsky said drivers enter from 800 North and exit on Freedom Boulevard."This is something we've worked on for a long time," customer service manager Geniel Evans said. "We have a lot of customers who are senior citizens or handicapped. The drive-through will be more convenient for them, especially in the winter."

About 75 people a day walk up to the existing drop box. "Our night drop is too small," said Monica Watkins, supervisor of credit and billing. "We have to come down on evenings and weekends to empty it out. The new one will be so nice."

Payment at the new drop box should be made by check or money order to avoid loss if the box is broken into, Lynsky said.
