Summit County's World War I veterans memorial plaque hasn't exactly been in the public eye lately - it's been hidden away in a building that was sold.

But it is finally being moved to the Summit County Courthouse in Coalville, and a rededication ceremony is scheduled there at 10 a.m. Nov. 12.The immense brass plaque had been housed in the former War Memorial Building in Park City. When the building was sold, other plaques there were moved to the court house. The World War I veterans plaque was not because of its large size.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, led the initiative to move the plaque after his office was contacted by a Nevada woman was unable to view the plaque after the building was turned over to private hands.

Speakers at the rededicatory ceremony will include James Milliner, a former history and government instructor; Ron Madsen, state director for Hatch; Summit County Commissioner Jim Soter; and Mel Fletcher, adjutant of American Legion Post 14 in Park City.
