Two San Juan County men were arrested Thursday after being indicted by a federal grand jury on assault charges.
Ellison White Horse, 30, of Aneth was indicted on charges of aggravated assault and Curtis Bennaly, 28, of Montezuma Creek was indicted on charges of assault with intent to commit murder. The charges stem from separate incidents, according to the Salt Lake office of the FBI.White Horse was charged in connection with a July 1989 shooting where a man was injured. White Horse appeared before a U.S. Magistrate F. Bennion Redd in Monticello where a bond of $5,000 was imposed.
Bennaly is charged in a February 1990 stabbing. The FBI said he was charged in connection with an incident where a man was stabbed with a butcher knife. The man was hospitalized and released. Bennaly also appeared before Redd, who invoked a $10,000 bond.
Both men were being held in the Salt Lake County Jail. The arrests were made by the FBI, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office and Navajo Police Department.
