The big race - accent on "big" - is on for Sunday, when the 8th Annual Short Fat Guys Road Race is to wind its way for (more or less) 3.1 miles through the Finger Lakes village of Skaneateles, N.Y.

"It's an event designed to showcase the overall talent, attractiveness and athletic ability of short, fat guys," said race organizer Dick Perry. The event is open only to men whose waist sizes are 4 1/2 inches longer than their inseams.

The race, which last year drew about 50 participants, features seven shortcuts and a midpoint rest stop where the runners can rejuvenate themselves with beer, Twinkies and cigars, Perry said.

The course contains some uphill sections, "but we've stopped asking people to run up them," Perry said.
