Following are the dates, titles and theaters for the Christmas productions scheduled in Utah from now through the holiday season.
Nov. 9-Dec. 31: THE OTHER WISE MAN, City Rep Jester Stage (upstairs), Utah Theater, 148 S. Main. Later in the run, it will alternate with "Babes in Toyland" on the company's Court Stage (main floor). Dates: Nov. 9, 17, 23, 24 and Dec. 1, 7, 15, 17, 21 and 29 at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. on Nov. 24, Dec. 8 and 22, and at 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31. Nov. 19-Dec. 22: A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Hale Center Theater, 2505 S. Main, South Salt Lake. Mondays-Saturdays at 8 p.m., with matinees on Fridays at 5 p.m. and Saturdays at noon and 3:30 p.m. Tickets: $7 for adults and $6 for children at all matinees and Monday-Thursday evenings, and $9 for adults and $8 for children for weekend evening performances. Nov. 24-Jan. 5: IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE OR WINGING IN THE HOLIDAYS, Desert Star Playhouse, 4861 S. State St., Murray. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 7 p.m. (preview performance on Friday, Nov. 23). Tickets: $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The Playhouse, which specializes in cabaret-style family entertainment and musical melodramas, is now serving pizza and hand-dipped ice cream desserts. Call 266-7600.
Nov. 23-Dec. 22: A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Hale Center Theater, Orem. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Tickets: $5 on Mondays and $6 on weekends for adults (children $1 less). Call 226-8600.
Nov. 30-Dec. 29: BABES IN TOYLAND, City Rep, 148 S. Main (main level Court Stage). Nov. 30-Dec. 8: A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Morgan Theatre of the Chase Fine Arts Center, Utah State University, Logan. Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 5-8, at 8 p.m. Tickets: $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for senior citizens, youths and USU faculty/staff and $3.25 for USU students. Nov. 30-Dec. 15: ALMOST A MIRACLE, Heritage Theater, 2505 S. Highway 80, Perry (south of Brigham City). An original Christmas play written by Paul Burt. Mondays and Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. Matinees at 2 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 15. Tickets: $5 for adults, $4 for students, senior citizens (62 and over), $3 for children 12 and under. Nov. 30-Dec. 22: THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, Valley Center Theater, Lindon. Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from Nov. 30 through Dec. 15, then Monday-Saturday, Dec. 17-22. All performances at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $5 for general admission, $4 for students, senior citizens and children, or $20 per immediate family (two adults and all children living in the same household). Nov. 30-Dec. 8: PINOCCHIO, Wasatch Playhouse, Layton. The venue and performance times for this family production will be announced.
Dec. 1-22: CHRISTMAS IN THE AIR, Promised Valley Playhouse, 132 S. State, Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. on Dec. 8, 15 and 22. Tickets range from $5 to $10, depending on whether you're sitting up in the top part of the balcony, downstairs in the orchestra seats or in the dress circle. Call 364-5696. (This show actually opens on Friday, Nov. 30, with a by-invitation-only gala, but public performances begin on Saturday, Dec. 1.)
Dec. 5-22: THE MISER, Lees Main Stage of Pioneer Memorial Theatre, University of Utah campus. Not actually a "Christmas" show, but Moliere's 17th-century farce is being touted as a comedy about a character who out-Scrooges Scrooge. The Pioneer Theatre Company production is being directed by Tom Markus. It opens Wednesday, Dec. 5, and continues Mondays-Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. through Dec. 22. Dec. 6-15: ANNIE, Auditorium Mainstage Theatre, Southern Utah State College, Cedar City. Thursdays-Saturdays, Dec. 6-8 and 13-15 at 8 p.m., with matinees at 11 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 6 and 7, and Thursday, Dec. 13. Directed by Rick VanNoy. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and youths, and $3.50 for children 8 and under. Box office: 586-7876.
Dec. 7-22: SCROOGE, Salt Lake Community Arts Center, Little Theater of the Calvin L. Rampton Technology Building, Salt Lake Community College campus, 4600 S. Redwood Road. Mondays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22. All seats are reserved. Tickets: $8. Senior citizen and group discounts available. Tickets available in advance from the cashier's office, Monday through Friday, or at the theater box office one hour prior to performances.
Dec. 7-15: THE RENTED CHRISTMAS, Pleasant Green Civic Theater, Magna. Five performances in the Magna Recreation Center, 2941 S. 9150 West. Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 7 and 8 and 14 and 15, and Monday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. Directed by Sherri Hughes. Tickets: $3 each, at the door.
Dec. 8 and 13: THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, Curtain Call Children's Theatre Company production. One performances in-the-round on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m., at the Winner School, 6120 S. 1075 East. All seats $3 for this performances. Limited seating. The production, directed by Ron Burnett, will be repeated on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah campus, where it will be presented along with a performance of "The Little Match Girl," by Winner School's dance students. Admission is $5 per person, with tickets available at the door.
