Our beloved Owen Ivin Gardner, age 75, died November 5, 1990 at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah during surgery.
Born July 26, 1915 in Ogden, Utah to Ivin Estelvin and Eunice Stella Iverson Gardner. Married June Brinkerhoff on April 3, 1936. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1961. Married Helen Gates Grant on December 8, 1961. He held many LDS church positions. His most recent callings involved working with the Laotian people in both Salt Lake and while on a mission with his wife in the California-Fresno Mission. He worked at Beneficial Life Insurance Company for over 46 years. Before he retired he was vice-president over Actuary.Survived by his wife Helen, Salt Lake City; sons and daughters, Mrs. Earl (Marilyn) Dimond, West Valley; Kent Gardner, Salt Lake; James Grant, West Valley; Richard Gardner, Orem; Mrs. Claude (Marilyn) Price, Midland, Michigan; Judy Grant, Salt Lake; Duane Gardner, Kearns; Susan Grant, St. George; Mrs. Paul (Diane) Thorum, Salt Lake; David Grant, West Valley; and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Brown of Salt Lake; 36 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren; a brother Andrew of Provo; sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Fern) Skinner of Bakersfield, California; Mrs. Ray (Myrl) Warner, Spanish Fork; and Mrs. Ray (Maurine) Hiatt, Payson.
Funeral services on Friday, November 9th, at 12 noon, Capitol Hill 1st Ward, 24 West 400 North. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, on Thursday evening 6-8 p.m., and at the Ward on Friday, 10:45-11:45 am. Burial will be in the Salem (Utah County) Cemetery.
Owen's family and friends will remember him as a man of great integrity, selflessness, and pure love of his fellow man. His devotion to his church, family, and friends was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
