William Henry Butterfield, 95, died November 5, 1990 of causes incident to age.
He was born August 3, 1895 in Herriman to Almon and Sarah Mitchell Butterfield. He married Betty Hannah Blake on October 24, 1917 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died May 1, 1983. Henry was drafted to serve in World War I shortly after his marriage and served with the 91st Division in France and Belgium. He worked for Ohio Copper Co. at Lark and was a farmer and dairyman. He also worked for the State Road Commission in Salt Lake County. He had been active in the LDS Church, serving as genealogical committee chairman, in a bishopric and over 20 years as the Gospel Doctrine teacher and as Sunday School superintendent.Survived by five sons, James R., Salt Lake City; George R., Providence, Utah; Lawrence T., Clyde W. and Almon P., all of Herriman, Utah; 27 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Nellie Berrett Butterfield and Jane Price Butterfield, both of Riverton. Preceded in death by four children, Grace, Herbert, Blake, Golden.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 noon, in the Herriman First Ward, 131 South 6000 West. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West and Friday, one hour prior at the Church. Interment: Herriman Cemetery.
