Catherine Deneuve, better known in the United States for her perfume endorsements in TV commercials than for acting achievements, will be honored at the second-annual Sarasota French Film Festival for her contributions to movies.

Deneuve made her film debut in 1963 in "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and appeared in some 60 movies in Europe and this country. She made her American debut in 1968 in "Mayerling" with Omar Sharif and Ava Gardner.The Sarasota French Film Festival is presented by the Asolo Center for the Performing Arts and is sponsored by the state of Florida in association with Unifrance Film International.
