Past and present members of the armed forces will be honored at a musical salute at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the University of Utah Huntsman Center.

The Veterans Day concert, which will feature the Utah National Guard's 23rd Army Band and a 680-voice Granite School District choir, is free. Tickets are not required.Norman Wendel will conduct the Utah National Guard Band. Granite music teachers will conduct the student chorus.

Maj. Gen. John Matthews of the Utah National Guard will give a tribute to veterans.

Nearly 600,000 Americans have died in war since the beginning of the Revolutionary war. More than 1.5 million have been wounded, and more than 200,000 Americans are now serving in Operation Desert Shield in the Middle East.
