Despite heavy security after the assassination of Egypt's No. 2 man, thieves stole the limousine of Cairo's radio and television union chairman in broad daylight, an Egyptian newspaper reported Wednesday.

The daily Al Gomhuria said the driver of Ahmed Bayoumi left the limo "for a few minutes" but it disappeared by the time he got back.The Interior Ministry doubled armed guards and increased security measures outside public buildings such as the radio and television center after the Oct. 12 assassination in downtown Cairo of Egypt's Parliament Speaker Rifaat El Mahgoub.
