Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Isaiah Mern Bowers, 83, died at his home in Salt Lake City on November 3, 1990.

He was born May 1, 1907 in Orderville, Utah to Isaiah Leigh and Maria Heaton Bowers. He married Moleta Barnhurst on December 23, 1928 at Hatch, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.Mern worked in road construction all over the state of Utah, operating heavy equipment. They moved to Salt Lake City in 1942. After the war, he worked with the Utah Fish and Game Wildlife Resources, retiring in 1967. He was a high priest in the LDS Church, member of the South Cottonwood 13th Ward. He was a member in good standing of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 35 years.

He was loved and cherished and will be greatly missed by his sweetheart of 62 years, Moleta; their children: son, Isaiah Mern (Ike) Bowers, Jr. and his wife, Mary; daughter, LaRae and husband, Robert McManama; daughter, Janis Wetzel; daughter-in-law, Anna Butcher and her husband, Lew Longmore; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; also brothers, Grant Bowers, LaVerkin; Clyde Bowers, Littlefield, Ariz.; sister, Harriet Hardy, LaVerkin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and a precious granddaughter, Kathleen Ann Everett.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6, 1990 at 11 a.m., in the South Cottonwood 13th Ward, 5235 South Westley Rd. (1120 East). Friends may call at the MacKay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Monday evening from 6-8 p.m., and at the church Tuesday morning, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the American Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Primary Childrens Medical Center.
